PM Symposium 2018 in Tokyo

PMAJ (Project Management Association of Japan) held the annual PM Symposium 2018 in Tokyo on 13-14 September 2018, sponsored by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Information-technology Promotion Agency, Japan (IPA), and Engineering Advancement Association of Japan (ENAA).

Participants are the largest ever; Total number over 2,796 (domestic maximum)
Extensive program composition (Total 80 lectures)
On the first day, two keynote speeches, three special lectures, practical 28 track lectures (ICT, P2M, Engineering/Construction/Public, Manufacturing/Health care/Agriculture, Finance/Distribution/·Service, PM human resource development, Working way reform, and four PM Meister lectures.
On the second day, five special lectures, 34 session lectures and four PM Meister lectures.

Feature
The common theme: “Challenge to the digital transformation"
We are also required to build sophisticated systems to adapt to companies promoting reforms of business through corporate reform and business innovation and project management skills, and we should demonstrate professional abilities for the digital age.

It was popular for Manufacturing/Healthcare/ Agricultural track.
"Ultra-large module transport in the Arctic Ocean", "Transformed with Digital and Artificial Intelligence” sessions were thriving.
"Future of companies and societies "session was also thriving.
  For Day 2,
"To become a smart and interesting PM", and "How to face confrontation with anti-influence "sessions were a thriving.
As overall, human skill and agile development sessions were increased. In addition, PM Meister Track was appreciated.
This symposium was planned and operated with volunteer. (217 person in total)

Although data scientists are important in the digital age, there is a shortage of human resources to analyze even if data is distributed. For this reason, He set up the first data science department in Japan. He mentioned the practice of data scientist development.

He explained the approach to survive the IT industry (SI vendor) being destroyed (i.e. it is to provide business platform as a company to solve the social problems).

LNG plant construction project in extremely cold areas. He introduced about efficient transportation challenges and project success of very large modules.

Through demonstration experiments to customers using AI robots, he introduced concrete examples of problem solving points and verification of effectiveness in the project.

This lecture is an invited lecture on PM symposium. We have been interacting with KPMA (Korea Project Management Association) for a long time.
